Topics Visualization of international risks in Japan using GIS

2022/12/25

This IRC project which started in 2021 have developed a database that visualizes the geographical location of foreign human resources in the local population using Geographic Information System (GIS) in particular. As an outcome, we launched “Local Order Index” in March 2022. This webpage provides a map of immigration trends based on status of residence from 2006 to 2020.

Many local governments throughout Japan are required to solve social issues such as a declining population due to the declining birthrate and aging; however, the optimal solution for the population size, composition, or attributes that should be the basis or premise of the sustainable development of the region is not always clear. By clarifying part of Japan’s population composition in a global society, we hope this initiative will function as an information hub for solving social issues.
