Missions

The Information Resources Center (IRC) is a center within the Research Institute for Languages and Cultures of Asia and Africa (ILCAA) to serve and assist the academic community both within Japan and abroad. It is committed to collecting, compiling, storing, and disseminating information resources related to the languages and cultures of Asia and Africa. For example, assisting with activities for digitization and compilation of databases of various materials, publishing digitalized materials and their databases, and developping digitization methods.

現在の活動

Activities

The results of IRCs activities include electric dictionaries (Japanese-English-Malayalam, Kannada-English-Japanese, etc.), multilateral integrated databases for languages and cultures (Northeastern Eurasia, Tibet etc.,), and image databases (image archives of Asia and Africa, Ottoman old maps, etc.), many of which are open to the public and available as online research resources. Some teaching materials for "Intensive Language Courses" organized by ILCAA are developed by the IRC.

The various activities of IRC are supported by its members, consisting of full-time research staff members and research associates of ILCAA, as well as one administrative staff member.
