Topics Building an online digital resource based on the Swahili dictionary published from ILCAA

The IRC project titled “Building an online digital resource based on the Swahili dictionary published from ILCAA” began in 2023. This project has digitalized the six-volume dictionary, A dictionary of the Swahili language, edited by Mzee Morino Tsuneo and Nassor Nakazima Hisasi, which was originally published from 1990 to 1997. As an outcome of this project, we launched “Online lexical database of a dictionary of the Swahili language compiled by Mzee Morino T. and Nassor Nakazima H.” in March 2024.

This resource allows you to search for a Swahili word to view its lexical information, including its definition, translation (in either Swahili or English), and example sentences with bibliographical sources provided. It offers both full-text search and headword search options, as well as support for regular expression searches.
